Design ACB was appointed to design the extension and conversion of an existing garage into a kitchen/dining space as part of a reconfigured ground floor plan design.
The design creates a new kitchen and utility room from the existing space while a new glazed extension contains a dining area. Low profile fixed glazing on one side creates a strong visual connection to the garden, whilst glazed bifold doors allow a seamless transition to the outside during summer months.
The extension is attached to the house by a timber lined ‘link’ that mediates the threshold between the existing and new-build. The link also allows the extension to step up in ceiling hight without puncturing the existing hung tile cladding.
