As part of our ongoing projects for Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT), Design ACB were asked to refurbish the main reception area for the College. We held interviews with Staff and Students to identify the current problems and to develop a brief. The current reception was cramped, poorly arranged and caused congestion to the main internal thoroughfare at peak times. The associated office spaces were disparate and caused communication problems between staff.

Design ACB proposed the re-location of two cramped office spaces occupying prime frontage area in order to create a more generous waiting and reception area. The offices were placed behind a new reception area and linked to a separate enrollment area away from the main circulation zone. Working in conjunction with accessibility consultants, the new reception area is designed to be DDA compliant and easily securable whilst maintaining a feeling of transparency and openness.
